President Ho Chi Minh memorial site on Co To island is associated with the event on May 9, 1961 when Uncle Ho visited Co To island and this was the only place in the country to get Uncle Ho’s permission to build his statue while he was still alive. This is a landmark of sovereignty and culture, a precious national heritage that needs to be preserved and passed on to the younger generation. Having Uncle Ho’s statue on Co To island, the people and soldiers here are encouraged to live, study and work according to Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style to protect and preserve every inch of land and sea of the homeland.
